Youth Programs

Apex Winter Adventure
Not available for internet registration. Call 490-2426 to register. Several options for an exciting evening for teens at Apex Resort: snowboarding, skiing or tubing & skating. All options include bus transportation to and from Apex, hot dogs and unlimited hot chocolate at the bonfire. Equipment rentals for skiing and snowbaording are available at an additional fee of $6.00. Limited tickets available so register early. Registration deadline is January 23 (no refunds after this date). Register at the Community Centre.

Babysitter Training
This Canadian Red Cross certified course includes child development & behaviour, first aid, nutrition, emergencies, caring for children and special needs. Registration fee includes a take home manual and mini first aid kit. All participants are asked to bring a lunch and a stuffed toy or doll to class for practice.

Boot Camp Youth
You will need to fill out the following consent form and submit it with your payment: New Consent Form While having fun and learning new skills, get buff over the break with 3 hours of physical training per day. Activities will include swimming, hiking, kickboxing, weight training, yoga, team sports and more. All training will be directly supervised by fitness coaches and program instructors. Please wear workout gear and bring your bathing suit, towel, water bottle and healthy snacks each day. To prepare for some workouts, a list of specific gear needed will be available at front desk.

Break Out on Power Street
Not available for internet registration. Call 490-2426 to register. Celebrate this Leap Year in style! The Community Centre will be WIDE OPEN for youth aged 12-17 ONLY. Dodgeball tournament, pool and hot tub access, studio dance party, coffee house lounge, big screen gamer action and much more! Admission only $3 at the door. Doors open at 8:00pm.

Fresh Tracks Snow Day
You will need to fill out the following consent form and submit it with your payment: New Consent Form Jump in to fresh powder and enjoy a morning in a winter wonderland while you play in the snow, slide down some slopes and learn the basics of alpine snowshoeing. Carol will expose you to some beautiful locations in the area of Apex Resort. No experience required, see confirmation receipt for recommended clothing. All equipment and transportation between Apex and the Community Centre will be provided.

Gamer Nights
Meet at the Community centre for some extreme video game fun. We provide the machines and the games for this fun, tournament style gamer night each month! Prizes, music, concession and more.

GetActive! Girls
You will need to fill out the following consent form and submit it with your payment: New Consent Form This program for GIRLS ONLY will get girls active, meeting new friends and learning about healthy choices. Enjoy a mix of activities which will include recreational community out trips, fitness and sports, crafts and workshops on topics like healthy relationships, self defense and issues important to the group. The first week will be a smoothie party and brainstorming session for girls to provide suggestions of activities for the upcoming weeks. This program is subsidized by grants and local sponsorship. Pre-registration is required.

H20 FLO Teen Swim
Splash around in the pool, hit the waterslides or the diving boards or simply relax in the hot tub... it is youth-only time at the pool. Check out the list of special theme nights and contests.

Hip Hop Dance Teen
Want to learn some cool new moves? This semi-structured class allows teens to develop their own style and technique. Learn basic dance moves to pop and hip hop music. No previous dance experience necessary.

Introduction to Curling (Teens)
Teens will be introduced to the basics of curling including rules, delivering rocks, sweeping, turns and game play. Instruction will be given by qualified coaches and instructors. All equipment is provided. This program is offered in partnership with the Penticton Curling Club.
